The work of the PCFA

Funding innovative research

The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia has a collaborative approach to prostate cancer research. Funding allocated by the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia for research is evaluated through the Peer Review System, an independent panel of researchers who determine the project merit.

Projects we are supporting include:

  • National Audit of Prostate Cancer Research
  • National Prostate Cancer Tissue Bank
  • Scholarships for young urologists and researchers to travels overseas to further their studies
  • Prostate Nurses Scholarships to specifically train health care professionals

Support, information and advocacy

The PCFA operates close to 80 support groups Australia wide who provide support and advocacy, via the phone or face to face to men and their families affected by prostate cancer. These groups meet regularly and provide a meeting forum for the exchange of experiences, ideas and news as well as an invaluable support network.
